God's Ways are Like the Radio

God always knows what’s best for us. Always.

Being human, we often think that we know what’s best for ourselves, or what our next step should be, or our next goal. Sometimes, I feel like we hold onto things a little too long thinking that we have no better choice.

Or we hold out for a prayer that we really, really want.

I do that sometimes, too. And then I take a road trip.

While on these trips, I sometimes find a radio station I like. The further I travel, the more static comes in, but I really don’t want to change the station because I’m enjoying what’s being played.

I sit there and deal with the static since I can still kinda make out the song. The static’s a little annoying, but it’s better than trying to search and search for another station I like.

So I keep listening until finally, the static gets so ridiculous that I can’t make out the words or even the music anymore.

So I press scan and the very first station that pops up is the exact same station playing the exact song, nice and clear.

And here I was holding onto what I thought was the best I could get.

I think it’s like that with God. We squeeze tightly to the things that we want or think we need, when all the while, He’s saying, if you’ll give that to Me, I’ll replace it with something better.

Ultimately, it’s about trusting Him. Praying for Him to lead your life, trusting that He’ll do it, and then listening to that little feeling in your gut that says “let go”.

It feels like the most foreign and most foolish thing in the world (maybe it’s your business or a person, etc.), but if you’ll trust that little feeling and consider the fact that God might have something better for you, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

You can trust Him,

If you decide that you want God in your life, here's a simple prayer you can say quietly or out loud:

Dear God, I'm a sinner. I’m sorry for my sin; please forgive me.

I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son and that He died for my sins and You raised Him to life.

I want to invite Him into my heart to take control of my life.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

(No pressure, but if you do say this prayer, I'd love to know so you're not stuck with the thought of, "Okaaaaay, what now?")
