The newest Pure Flix film, Unplanned, came out over the weekend – and it’s doubled their expected outcome. They’ve had some marketing set-backs and social media hurdles, yet they’ve still prevailed – #BecauseGod.
The creators of Unplanned, Chuck Konzelman and Cary Solomon, were prompted by God to make this film, so you can bet God’s gonna see it through. It got an A+ CinemaScore rating which only happens to like 2 films per year.
I feel...
Another great thing happened on the set of Vindication, Episode 9. My actor friend, Robbie Clark, had asked me to be on his podcast a few months prior.
Admittedly, I delayed my answer for a while because I was too chicken to do a podcast. As an actor, you’re used to scripts, not interviews.
My biggest concern was fumbling over my words, and then, because interviews seem to be rushed, I wouldn’t have the chance to explain myself, and who I was would be...
Piggy backing on last week’s post, here’s a new thought about my current situation.
On the set of Vindication last weekend, something unexpected happened. Shance (one of the camera guys) asked me who my agent was. My response to that was pretty much what I wrote on last week’s blog: Faith-Based Projects Currently in Texas.
When I mentioned that it seemed like prime time to have an agent, Shance said that the verse in Psalm doesn’t say God lets us lie...
For years, I’ve been with an acting agency. All that time, I’d hoped and looked for faith-based projects that were going on, even though they were few and far between.
It seems more have been popping up recently, which is amazing.
However, if you’ve read my recent blog posts, you’d see that it feels like God has put my acting endeavors on pause – except for this one series I’ve been doing called Vindication.
What’s my point?

I’m the type of person who loves success stories, biographies, and auto-biographies. It’s inspiring to see the path that people took to get to where they are.
Oftentimes, when people talk about their journey, they give general information, and while that’s helpful, my brain would rather know the specifics, so here’s a bit of my acting story.
(If you’re more into a quick how-to, here's a free guide I made to help you get started in acting, plus the pros and...
After a few times doing something, you tend to learn the ropes. Here's what helps me when I have shoots coming up:
1. Charcoal tablets. I learned about charcoal tablets a couple of years ago when I got food poisoning; they help cleanse the body. I don’t know about you, but when I drink something carbonated, it tends to give me throat gurgles that the boom mic picks up.
On my last shoot, I had a Dr Pepper, and once I started feeling that familiar feeling, I took...
This was an interesting day. I was hired as Jennifer Garner’s stand-in on a movie filming in Austin.
A stand-in is similar to a double except you don’t have any screen time. Stand-ins watch the main actors rehearse the scene, and when the main actors go to hair / make-up / wardrobe, the stand-ins stand in all the places the actors were so that cameras, lighting, sound, etc. can be set up and ready to shoot when the actors come back.
If you’ve read previous posts,...
Normally, I don’t pray over auditions, but this one was a little different.
The woman casting this project was a casting director I hadn’t auditioned for in a while – around a year or more. She does casting for a lot of the tv shows and films around Austin, so I wanted to make sure I’d be brought back in for future gigs.
The other casting directors in town brought me in often so I knew I’d get called in for their gigs if I fit the specs. (I’m speaking...
Sometimes God sends a message through other people like He did through that pastor and then through this lady.
I was visiting my mom in San Angelo, TX, and we decided to visit a Pentecostal church. At the end of the service, they asked people to go to the front for prayer, but I felt fine about staying where I was.
Then, a woman came over to us. I thought she was just going to say hi and introduce herself, but after saying hi, she said she had a word for me. She started...
A little more of God’s amazingness…
In August of 2016, our acting class had our first talent showcase. We’d been working for months on our scenes and were going to perform them in front of casting directors, directors, talent agents, and other industry professionals. As a little gift, I wanted to get everyone little silicone wrist bands that said “you are enough”.
That’s something our acting coach, Carol Hickey, never let us forget – that we are...
