My First Podcast Interview - More Than Expected

Another great thing happened on the set of Vindication, Episode 9. My actor friend, Robbie Clark, had asked me to be on his podcast a few months prior.

Admittedly, I delayed my answer for a while because I was too chicken to do a podcast. As an actor, you’re used to scripts, not interviews.

My biggest concern was fumbling over my words, and then, because interviews seem to be rushed, I wouldn’t have the chance to explain myself, and who I was would be misunderstood because of what came out of my mouth.

But this post isn’t about me; it’s about Robbie.

As it turns out, I loved being on Robbie’s podcast. It was so conversational! He’s a great host – friendly, funny, and comfortable, so I was glad we ended up making it happen.

He said he normally doesn’t talk about religion or politics on his podcast. He’s okay with religion as long as it’s more about the guest rather than preaching to an audience.

So, he asked me questions, and mind you, a lot of me involves a lot of God. So we talked, and God came up multiple times. My faith, my values.

At one point in our conversation, Robbie mentioned that God had actually come up in his last three podcasts. I told Robbie that that actually reminds me of what’s going on in the Vindication script right now with Todd’s character (Detective Travis).

Det. Travis tells Becky that his past few cases have involved God somehow. Becky tells him that maybe God’s trying to tell him something. Detective Travis (who’s not a fan of it happening) asks what he’s supposed to do to make it stop. Becky says maybe he should check out Romans 10:13.

I told Robbie about that scene and we just laughed it off.

The next day, Robbie was on set. Jarod (the director) had asked Robbie last minute if he could come be in some of the police department scenes.

Well, guess what.

The exact scene that I told Robbie about was the first scene he was needed in. Of all the scenes we shot over the weekend, Robbie was in that one.

Like I said, Jarod asked Robbie last minute if he would be in the shoot, and the scene I just told Robbie about the day before – the one that seemed to echo Robbie’s current situation – is the one that came up first.

I’m not saying angels came down from heaven and lit fireworks or anything, but I am saying that what looks like coincidence – is usually God at work.

It makes my heart smile. Maybe something will come out of it. And maybe not.

Only God knows that part.

I’m just happy to get to see such things, regardless of the turnout.

Pray and push,
Venus
