My Experience at Dave Ramsey's Smart Conference

finally got to attend a conference. Back in September of 2018, I bought tickets for the Smart Conference because it covered a multitude of topics (and if I was going to drive 3.5 hours for it, I wanted to learn more than just finances).

Dave Ramsey Smart Conference, Dallas, TX. Jan. 2019.

This did not disappoint. It addressed so many areas of life and had incredible speakers.

They covered Parenting, Finding Your Purpose, Money, Relationships, Marriage, Boundaries, Fatherhood, Goal-Setting, Youth Perspective, Budgeting, etc. all under one roof, in one day, with fun entertainment and a great host.

If it comes to a town (even semi-) near you, go. Invest in yourself. And take someone that could use a little pep in their step – otherwise you’ll be sitting there wishing they were here to hear this.

SOME KEY POINTS:

The tickets were about $60/each when I bought them early and $78 when I looked the day before.

Parking cost us $10 – cash only.

Get there at least an hour ahead of “door opening” time. We sat in about a mile of conference traffic.

They provided a little baggy with a pen and a “notebook” containing all the important info and had it note-ready for you to use.

Pack some sandwiches and other food in a cooler and leave it in your car for the lunch break. Our options were 1) eat inside the stadium which meant $4 for a plain hot dog or 2) go somewhere near the conference. We planned to walk the half mile to the Target deli because we assumed everyone else would be hitting the fast food restaurants nearby. The weather was bitter cold so we ate stadium food instead.

All in all (the 3.5 hour trip there, the 1.5 hour trip to the stadium that morning and evening, the bitter cold, etc.), I’d definitely go again. And I would go each quarter for a year if I could.

But the most important part of the conference? Applying what was taught. Otherwise, what was the point of going… right?

I hope you get to experience it soon – or something like it. Add it to your goal list and see if you can cross it off by the end of the year.

Never-ending student,
Venus Monique
