Live Like an Airport Escalator

I love when something hits me as I’m doing life.

When I was going through the airport recently, it dawned on me that my purpose in life is to be like these escalators.

I’m here to help people get to Jesus – as best I can.. by lightening their load along the way.

Yes, there are stairs that everyone could take to get to the next floor, but wouldn’t it be great if there was something (someone) who could assist them? Something that (someone who) could make life a little more bearable?

Many times, people are carrying around so much luggage / baggage. It may look light because they’re rolling it, but if they were to actually have me hold their baggage, I would see just how much it's weighing them down.

But I don’t get to hold it; I don’t always get to peak inside the lives of others.

So, why not offer what I can to help them keep their head up? To help keep them trekking forward?

Smiles are simple yet impactful.

Using someone’s name when speaking to them does wonders, especially if they don’t think you know it.

How great to be a person who encourages the dreams and goals of others.

A kind conversation.. just to acknowledge someone else’s importance and presence in this world.

Being non-critical. It reminds me of the quote: “Many people find the dirt in others; be the one who finds the gold.”

Yes, there are going to be times when I may not be the most helpful – I may not be operating at my best. I may need a little fixing up. I may get stalled out and need someone to help me get going again.

But once I do get going again, I would hope that I perform my job well – so that I can alleviate some of the weight in people’s lives.

I just want to give them some rest, a place to refuel for a moment, as they continue onward in this journey of life.

I want to be humbly helpful… like an escalator.

Pray and push,

Venus Monique
