May 14, 2018 is when I woke up from this dream.
God had pulled me up into the sky and I knew earth was below me. The sky was bright blue. It was empty. And it was amazing. I was doing flips. I was smiling, floating, and turning. I had a deep well of joy inside of me. Just being in the moment.
Then it was like someone turned on the music and the entire atmosphere was filled praise and worship. I was singing. I was weightless. Everything was effortless. And breathtaking. And happy. Completely by...
To be honest, I didn’t get my strong faith from reading my bible.. or from sitting in church.. or from community groups.
My faith became strong because of someone else’s faith: my mom’s.
My mama. One of the most honest human beings you’ll ever meet.
Since I was little, my mom’s been talking about God. “God this” and “God that” and “God knows” and “trust God”. Not only has she talked about Him, she’s lived out her belief and her faith in Him and His doings.
My mom has woven God into every are...
This was an interesting day. I was hired as Jennifer Garner’s stand-in on a movie filming in Austin.
A stand-in is similar to a double except you don’t have any screen time. Stand-ins watch the main actors rehearse the scene, and when the main actors go to hair / make-up / wardrobe, the stand-ins stand in all the places the actors were so that cameras, lighting, sound, etc. can be set up and ready to shoot when the actors come back.
If you’ve read previous posts, you know that I’m not game for...
Normally, I don’t pray over auditions, but this one was a little different.
The woman casting this project was a casting director I hadn’t auditioned for in a while – around a year or more. She does casting for a lot of the tv shows and films around Austin, so I wanted to make sure I’d be brought back in for future gigs.
The other casting directors in town brought me in often so I knew I’d get called in for their gigs if I fit the specs. (I’m speaking past-tense about acting because it’s kind ...
Heeeeey – we moved again. We were in west Texas for a solid 7 months.
The plan was for both of us to get into the oilfield for a couple of years, but it didn’t work that way and I’m not sure why.
I know God has His plans, and I definitely feel like we were being called out there, but nothing major seems to have changed – at least not that I can see.
Currently, we’re living in a great little place on the outskirts of Austin and San Antonio, and it’s beautiful here. We have zero friends, but I ...
From what I’d seen, being a Christian looked like a restricting life.
When I first got saved, I was maybe in 7th grade and I gave my life to Jesus at a First Baptist Church. It was a sincere move from my heart, but I didn’t actually start living like a Christian until later because it didn't look enticing at all.
So, what caused the change?
Moving to a new town.
When I was a junior in high school, I moved to a new town with my mom. We started going to a non-denominational church and I decide...
Sometimes God sends a message through other people like He did through that pastor and then through this lady.
I was visiting my mom in San Angelo, TX, and we decided to visit a Pentecostal church. At the end of the service, they asked people to go to the front for prayer, but I felt fine about staying where I was.
Then, a woman came over to us. I thought she was just going to say hi and introduce herself, but after saying hi, she said she had a word for me. She started speaking and praying in...
When I was a kid, I would think of other kids and where they lived, the parents they had, the house in which they lived, and the problems they faced. I’ve always been grateful for my life; maybe it’s because I’ve had that perspective.Â
I’ve often thought why did my soul arrive in this body?
in this country?
in this state?
in this town?Â
Why am I not in India or in the 1700s?Â
My soul could have been placed in any body at any time, but I’m in this body... right now.
Have you ever though...
A little more of God’s amazingness…
In August of 2016, our acting class had our first talent showcase. We’d been working for months on our scenes and were going to perform them in front of casting directors, directors, talent agents, and other industry professionals. As a little gift, I wanted to get everyone little silicone wrist bands that said “you are enough”.
That’s something our acting coach, Carol Hickey, never let us forget – that we are enough just as we are. It’s a statement that’s m...
Sometimes I feel like God is herding me like a cow.. or a sheep. Either one. I’ll explain.
If you’ve never heard the analogy of God being like a GPS, let me fill you in.
When we’re traveling somewhere specific, we like to know the full route before we get going, right? I know I do. I want to see different roads I could take and how long each trip will be. Understandable.
But God – He doesn’t let you see the full road before you, He doesn’t show you the exact destination. He guides you as you’...
